Week 1

This week we had our first motion capture class of the semester and had introductions to our new brief. We will recreate a scene from the movie I Robot. We also had a look at the new Virtual Production studio which is really exciting. It will be cool to use for our project. I was super interested to see how it works. There's a camera on a big tripod facing a big screen that has a scene displayed. We looked at one scene that Tim made of an environment on the moon. As the camera moves around the room facing the screen, the 3D scene also moves. Watching through camera's screen it looks like the camera is in the scene. What's also super cool is that when someone stands between the screen and camera, with the right lighting, through the camera screen it looks like they are in the scene. We will be using this for our project to have our motion capture character in the scene on the screen and then a real person acting in front of the screen so it looks like the real person and motion capture character are in the same place.
